Tip for sewing up baby shawls

I have been knitting baby shawls, mostly the traditional Shetland 2 ply shawl - either the square shawl or the round one - for more than fifty years. Very early on, I adapted the square shawl pattern (no. 1085) so that the only sewing up was the cast on and cast off stitches of the peaks. Recently, I was asked to knit a different shawl for a friend's grandchild. The pattern is PBN D 5347 and the shawl requested was the chevron pattern. When I read it over and saw just how much sewing up there was, I found it very daunting, but then realised I could adapt the pattern in the same manner as I had done with the Shetland shawl so many years ago. Today I finished the shawl and once again, the only sewing up involved was the 12 stitches of the border. I just thought you might be interested.
