Thank you, thank you and thank you again for producing such a marvellous (and free!) sock pattern! It has finally taught me, after years of despair, to knit socks!
I find it easy to follow, straightforward and so enjoyable to use that I've recommended it umpteen times both to friends and to new people at knitting groups. Between us, we must own a stash of glossy, but useless, books which are pretty to look at but useless to knit, so they stay on the shelves.
My downside is that I'm now a 'sockaholic'. I've made over 20 pairs over the past year, and even my once-sceptical husband finds them so comfy that he refuses to wear shop-bought ones. These socks, by the way, make very welcome presents too, especially if you use the remaining yarn to make a little gift bag - which is easily and quickly tailored to suit the recipient/occasion.
The cuteness of this pattern lies, I think, in the mathematics! It enables you to do it all! It suits both self-patterning and plain yarns and the results look great but, once you gain confidence, you can 'tweak' the pattern to include things like picot edging/mock cable cuff and heel (which appear in glossy mags/books which you were going to throw out) and produce something quite unique and brilliant!
Versatile and reliable - THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Good morning. You are just the person I am looking for. I have just started my first pair of socks on 4 needles with the wonderful Regia wool.
How do I stop getting a 'ridge' when changing to the next needle.

I'm not that far ahead of you, knitting my fourth pair of socks. I find if you tug the yarn a little tighter on first stitch on each new needle and then again on the second stitch the ridge doesn;t appear. When you are knitting in the round using stocking stitch move the stitches along every few rows so you're not knitting the same stitch as the first on each needle. Both of those methods helped my ridges disappear. Happy sock knitting! You realise it's terribly addictive?:)

Sorry for the delay in answering you. Thank you so much for the information. I now have no ladders in my sock. I now have to master Kitchener stitch to join at the toes.
Is there any way you can shape the toes? My daughter bought me a pair of left & right 'handed' socks for christmas and they are very comfortable.

Help, please! I have lost my Regia sock pattern from which I have now knitted 6 pairs so I should be able to knit them in my sleep BUT when it comes to the heel flap and shaping I can't remember how many to knit before I turn. I am desperate as I had just started a pair for a very special friend and cannot now progress. Can anyone take pity on me? Dorothy
